Checked hardware, firmware, and boot environments on both systems

Project route
A boot-diagnostics record built around Harvey’s 2025 Legion Y7000 with an RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, with Luminous’s RTX 4060 Laptop–based G5000 as an independent comparison for macOS 15, OpenCore, 1401, and the NullMoth driver.
The primary system is a 2025 Lenovo Legion Y7000 (83LY, i7-14650HX, RTX 5060 Laptop). Harvey performs all hands-on tests, observes the screen, and confirms the results. The immediate goal is to reach macOS 15 Recovery reliably before evaluating whether the NullMoth driver can work on this laptop platform.
Luminous contributes an independent comparison from a 2024 Lenovo G5000 IRX9 with an i7-13650HX and RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. The CPUs, GPUs, and firmware environments differ; the comparison tests whether observations carry across systems, not whether they share one root cause.
The Y7000 has progressed from a repeatable early kernel panic to graphical boot. Grouped comparisons reduced the relevant third-party extensions to a smaller set, but the possible link between audio initialisation and address mapping remains an unverified hypothesis.
On the G5000, disabling DevirtualiseMmio removed the original early panic, but boot still stopped near ACPI initialisation. Adding cpus=1 and disabling CPU-topology and forced-hyper-threading patches still did not reach Recovery. This differs from public Issue #6 and suggests possible BIOS, ACPI-table, or generated-configuration differences.

Field notes
On a G5000 with an i7-13650HX, RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, and LNVNB161216 board, disabling DevirtualiseMmio removed the original early panic, but boot stopped near ACPI initialisation. Adding cpus=1, disabling CpuTopologyRebuild and three forced-HT patches, and removing ctrsmt=full still did not expose Recovery, NVMe, or APFS initialisation. The result was prepared as a supplemental report for the NullMoth maintainers.
Next: Export and sanitise the OpenCore logs, configuration summary, and ACPI-table information, then ask the maintainers to identify the most useful minimal test.
Screen output, configuration hashes, and grouped-extension tests showed that the final OpenCore log line cannot by itself determine whether macOS continues. The extensions associated with the early panic were narrowed from the full configuration to a smaller set, and graphical boot appeared after verbose mode was removed.
Next: Keep every other setting fixed, disable one candidate extension at a time, and record screen differences for each retest.

Following Harvey’s 2025 Y7000, this article shows how repeatable kernel panics were turned into test criteria, variables were isolated, and boot advanced to the graphical stage. Luminous’s G5000 ACPI-stage stall is included as an independent comparison, not a success tutorial.
